This symbol was designed as an annual promotional item for the Chinese market. 2006 is the year of the Dog. Specific to this Year of The Dog is that it is represented by 'fire over earth' and that is the meaning of the I Ching hexagram at the top of the image. The Hsia Calendar dictates the elements of any given year and as 'fire over earth' is 2006, the flame over a red/blue gradient symbolizes it.. The Chinese character also conveys the Dog in this symbolic design, and what could be more apt than a Shar Pei puppy at the birth of this new year!

The year of the Dog is expected
to be a calmer year in
the world with opportunity to repair problems.
