Specific to this Year of The Dog is that it is represented by 'fire over earth' and that is the meaning of the I Ching hexagram at the top of the image. The Hsia Calendar dictates the elements of any given year and as 'fire over earth' is 2006, the flame over a red to blue gradient symbolizes it. The Chinese character also conveys the Dog in this symbolic design, and what could be more apt than a Shar Pei puppy at the birth of this new year!
